FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF COOPERATIVE BANKS
Abstract
The present study intends to the evaluation of cooperative banks agriculture credit sector in Karnataka State. The Department of Co-operation is a vital Department of the Government of Karnataka. Economy of the State is mainly dependent on agriculture as more than 65% of the total population is engaged in this sector. The cooperative strategy goes deep into the kingdom of building financial capabilities and self-confidence especially among the rural poor. The Department functions in close co-operation and co-ordination with various other Departments connected with the implementation of socio-economic plans and schemes. The Department of Co-operation overseas the administration and functioning of various Co-operative Institutions namely Textiles, Sericulture, Industries, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Sugar, Horticulture, Agriculture and Irrigation and also assist the societies financially besides providing technical guidance and input. The present study relates to agricultural credit of financial performance of cooperative bank in Karnataka state. The present study is based on descriptive analysis. This paper contributes up-to-date information and knowledge on the present financial performance of cooperative banks in Karnataka state. The study examines the progress and highlights the emerging role.
